Our Story
Hassan Zaarour is a Detroit Native who focuses his practice on Business Law, Real Estate, and an array of Transactional and Civil matters. He is licensed in Michigan, the United States District Court for the Eastern District, and the United States District Court for the Western District. Hassan is a graduate of the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, receiving dual degrees in Spanish and History. Hassan taught Spanish in Southwest Detroit and received his M.A. in Education.
Hassan attended Law School at the University of California - Los Angeles, where he worked as a Los Angeles Public Defender in Compton, California. Hassan's most important work has been in developing the seminal case Gary B. v. Snyder ( now Gary B. v. Whitmer), in which students of the City of Detroit sued the State of Michigan arguing that there is a constitutional right to literacy that they were being denied. On April 23, 2020, a panel on the United States Sixth Circuit ruled for the first time that the constitution affords a "fundamental right" to "basic minimum education".
